Robert LeRoy Parker, aka Butch Cassidy, grew up at this homestead. According to his sister Lula, Robert helped his mother plant the giant cottonwood trees along the canal behind the cabin. At the age of 18, Robert rode away from his Circleville home trying to escape false accusations. The restored homestead is much as it was in June of 1884 when Butch made his epic departure and rode into the history books as one of the most known and colorful outlaws of the old west.
